Canada achieves new breakthroughs in OLED light efficiency and cost

Recently, Canadian researchers have found that adding a layer of atomic-thick chlorine coating to the electrode material of traditional OLED, indium tin oxide (ITO, also known as tin-doped indium oxide), can not only improve the luminous efficiency of OLEDs, but also greatly Simplifying production processes and reducing production costs will accelerate the application of OLEDs in mainstream flat panel displays and other lighting technologies.

The researchers compared this Cl-OLED with a traditional OLED. It was found that an OLED with a chlorine atom coating can avoid performance degradation after increasing the brightness, and the working efficiency can be more than doubled in the case of very high luminance.

The new technology completely eliminates the expensive coatings used in traditional OLED manufacturing, reducing the cost of production steps and equipment as well as the installation and commissioning of the production line. This effectively reduces the production cost of OLEDs and paves the way for large-scale production of related equipment.

At present, Canada has developed a technology that uses UV-assisted chlorination to eliminate the use of chlorine, making the entire production process safer and more reliable.
