Diodes Introduces LED Driver AL1697 for 15W LED Lights

Following the LED driver AL1696, Diodes has introduced the new LED driver AL1697 for a wide range of TRIAC dimmable LED lighting applications. The device offers single-stage leading edge and trailing edge TRIAC dimmer compatibility, and high power factor dimming is matched to the NEMASSL-6 dimming curve to provide the best line and load regulation circuitry. This integrated MOSFET eliminates the need for an auxiliary winding to reduce material cost and component count, thereby reducing material costs. This driver is suitable for LED lights up to 15W.

Diodes' new TRIAC thyristor dimming LED driver AL1697 is designed to provide excellent compatibility with 230VAC and 120VAC replacement lamp dimmers.

The AL1697 is a high precision, high efficiency, buck-boost LED driver topology with high current sensing accuracy and flexible voltage and load regulation design. This design supports non-isolated (buck-boost) operation to address isolation requirements for different fixtures. Operation in boundary conduction mode achieves higher conversion efficiency while reducing switching noise and simplifying EMI design. The device features a low operating current of 130μA and a startup current of 170μA.

The AL1697 offers two MOSFET options, 2A/600V and 4A/650V. The device is also equipped with standard internal protection features such as output short circuit, over temperature, under voltage lockout, leading edge blanking and cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection. It also features enhanced safety and reliability overvoltage/output on and thermal foldback protection.

The new products offer two MOSFETs, AL1697-20CS7-13 (2A/600V) and AL1697-40DS7-13 (4A/650V), which are priced at $0.29 and $0.36, respectively, and are shipped in 10k quantities.
