Wireless network card selection

Wireless network card settings

When using, first plug the TL-WN321G+ wireless network card into the USB port on the back panel of the DM800, and then turn on the receiver power switch.

(1) First, from [Main Menu] - [Blue Panel] - [Settings], enter the [Core Module] interface. Since the RT2571WF chip of TL-WN321G+ is driven by RT73, select "WLAN RT73" to "Yes" and press The green key is saved.

The network SSID is "TP-LINK", and "ENCRYPTION: NO" indicates that the network is unencrypted.

(6) According to the wireless network information provided by the interface, press the green button to enter the setting in the [Network Card Settings] interface. The wireless network card setting method is the same as the built-in integrated network card method, and the same IP address as the integrated network card can be set.

Note: If the wireless network uses key security, you need to set the “encryption method” to “yes” and according to the encryption type of the wireless network (WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA or WPA2), key type (ASCII, HEX). ) and WLAN key settings.

(7) After the setting is completed, press the OK button to activate the setting. In a short while, a “Do you want to disable the second network card?” will pop up asking for the prompt box, that is, whether to disable the integrated network card inside the DM800 machine, generally select “Yes”, thus completing the wireless network card settings. When you enter the [Network Configuration...] screen again, you will find that the wireless network card is enabled.

Wireless network card use

Using a wireless network card not only avoids the hassle of dragging the network, but also shares wireless network signal resources with neighbors. In use, you can go to the [Network Configuration] screen at any time, scan the local wireless network signals available, and check the wireless local area network (WLAN) status.

1, check the wireless network status

[Display WLAN Status] in the [Network Configuration] screen to view the wireless network real-time status parameters.

Among them [ACCESSPOINT] is the access point, that is, the wireless AP, which is the MAC address of the wireless router we use. An AP is equivalent to a bridge connecting a wired network and a wireless network. Its main function is to connect the wireless network clients together and then connect the wireless network to the wired Ethernet.

[SSID] is a service set identifier (SERVICE SET IDENTFIER) used to distinguish different networks. Simply put, the SSID is the name of a local area network. Only computers or network devices with the same SSID name can communicate with each other. The wireless routers or wireless APs introduced by the same manufacturer all use the same SSID. For example, the wireless routers of Shenzhen Pulian are “TP-LINK”, which provides some network attackers with illegal intrusion opportunities. Therefore, we can rename the SSID on the router management WDB page, giving a more personalized name.

[LINK QUALITY] is the reception quality of the link signal, displayed as a percentage. The signal quality can only be displayed when connected to a wireless AP, similar to the signal quality in the satellite receiving information display strip.

[SIGNAL STRENGTH] is the signal strength in DBM, reflecting the simulated intensity of the surrounding wireless signal.

[BITRATE] is the data transmission bit rate of the signal. The 54M wireless network card has a maximum of 54MB/S, and the transmission bit rate is limited by the signal strength. When the signal strength is low, when the received signal is weak, in order to maintain a stable connection of the signal, the wireless router will use the "domain extension" function to automatically reduce the data transmission rate to improve the receiving sensitivity. In fact, when the analog satellite receiver we used in the past receives a weak signal, the IF bandwidth is set to a narrow band, which can improve the signal reception quality.

[ENCRYPTION] is the encryption status display. When the wireless network does not use the encryption mechanism, “UNSUPPORTED” is displayed. When the encryption mechanism is used, “ENABLED” is displayed.

2, improve the wireless network card signal receiving ability

If the DM800 is far away from the wireless AP, you can use an external antenna wireless network card, such as the EDIMAX EW-7318USG network card, built-in SMA interface, external omnidirectional antenna, to improve the ability to receive signals.

You can also modify the TP-WN321G+ NIC circuit board with reference to the circuit board of the EDIMAX EW-7318USG network card, add an SMA interface block, and add an external antenna to improve the signal receiving capability.

3, the wireless network card can not be automatically connected

Some users have reported that every time the DM800 is turned on, it cannot automatically connect to the wireless network. You need to go to [Network Configuration] [Restart Network] to connect. I don't know how to solve this problem.

In fact, this is due to the security encryption mechanism set up in the wireless network. Take the TP-LINK WR541G+ wireless router as an example, just cancel the security setting. But canceling the security settings may make the wireless network insecure and others easy to share your wireless network. In this case, you can filter the MAC address.

Go to the router management page. In the [Security Settings] [Firewall Settings] interface, select Enable firewall and enable MAC address filtering. The default filtering rule for MAC addresses is: Only allowed in the set MAC address list is enabled. The MAC address accesses the INTERNET. Then on [MAC Address Filtering], add the MAC address of the network device that is allowed to access, that is, the MAC address whitelist.
