My small host toss mind: thermal upgrade

Foreword:

As a DIY host lover, in last year's freshman last semester last year, he installed an itx host. The box uses Primord P115EA, and I also quickly issued a machine text, recently cooling the host. Some performance upgrades have been made. In the heat dissipation design, Plymouth P115EA's air duct design can be installed with a 12cm fan, and the back can be installed to discharge the 8cm fan. After the design of the whole air duct, a small air duct cycle can be formed. The thermal solution of my time was a 12cm fan +12cm under the pressure radiator, no rear 8cm fan for the exhaust, the video card is a single fan straight blow MSI gtx960, so the whole machine is basically no wind status. But at the time it was in late autumn, the ambient temperature was not high, but it wasn't too obvious that the itx small host was boring. The daily temperature control of the whole machine was fairly good, but because there was no wind, the temperature data in the roaster did not look good. . At present, in the summer, windless rickets are gradually emerging. This second half of the semester began to prepare for some upgrades of the host, not only the cooling upgrade, but I also further improved the host's noise control and performance . The heat dissipation upgrade also takes into account the noise control. Both the Gentle Typhoon GT1850 and the Sanyo 9s 8025 are recognized as both the performance and the noise. The two main fans, the performance upgrade, are the main two Micron MX200 250g SSDs and calendars. 2.5-inch 1T chassis hard drive.

Optional accessories out of the box:

Considering both the noise and the performance, we chose the genial typhoon gentle fan cymbal. This is the original version and the latest version. Before the forum saw the news of the new version of the gentle typhoon released by the Scythe, a unique pwm adapter was used to implement the fan pwm. This pwm integrated fan voltage control module, this is similar to the ASUS motherboard 3pin voltage regulator module

Made in Vietnam made in Vietnam

The new version is affixed with a new way PWM tag

Gentle typhoon is kind, heavy in weight, heavy in weight and heavy in weight. The important thing is to say it three times. From this quantity and effectiveness, there is no possibility of being copied.

Manually dialed down, dynamic balance is really good, and longer lasting

The secondary dynamic balance design greatly enhances the dynamic balance capability. The other fan Sanyo 9s has the same design.

DC12V 0.083A

PWM-MASTE

The fan is 3pin so pwm module is needed to support pwm function

Micron mx200 250G as a software disk, because the machine itself only a flash Di x110 64g as a system disk, the software is also installed in the mechanical disk, so the software loading speed will be some bottlenecks

Micron comes with Acronis True Image HD key and supports 12 languages and simplified Chinese

The Crucial MX200 is a model introduced by Micron in the 15th year. It is an upgraded version of the MX100 that was escalated in 14 years. The BX100 is also an entry-level device. The MX200 uses the Marvell 88SS9189 main control and Micron's own 16nm MLC NAND flash memory. , There are three versions of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB. The theoretical maximum continuous read/write speed is 555/500 MB/s respectively. The maximum random read/write IOPS is 100,000/87,000, and the durability is 80TBW to 320TBW depending on the capacity.

Thickness 7mm

Because the Pelimon P115EA will block an 8cm fan position when installing a 3.5-inch standard mechanical hard disk, so this time, simply replace the 3.5 inch 2.5 inch Hitachi HTS721010A9E630

2.5-inch notebook hard drive, so the mainstream speed is only 5400RPM, the speed is indeed worse than the 7200 rpm, so the 7200 rpm is still an important parameter for my main choice of hard disk, Hitachi HTS721010A9E630 is a very high cost 7200 rpm 2.5 inch HDD Compared to the Western Digital's 7,200 rpm and 2.5HDD, the price must have a lot of conscience.

Compared with MX200, standard 2.5-inch hard disk

9.5mm thicker than MX200

Sanyo 9S 8025 (80mm size 25mm thickness) is silent fan, rated speed minimum 950RPM±5% up to 2800RPM±5%, because this time for the chassis fan, because MSI B85I motherboard chassis fan PWM only supports 50% speed, so the speed Keeping around 2000PRM, the noise is quite obvious.

specification:

Rated voltage 12v Rated current 0.3A

The same secondary dynamic balance design as the typhoon gentle typhoon

In order not to injure the fan hole, the glue was selected to install the fan.

It can be seen that there will be some conflicts in the position of the standard 3.5-inch hard disk, which will affect the installation of a fan position. Therefore, we have chosen to replace the 2.5-inch notebook mechanical hard disk.

Because before the power line sequence is a custom custom line, plus a 2.5 hard drive also need to be a power supply

Finished drawing, silver-plated wire looks comfortable XD

Power Supply: Silverstone SX600-G 600W

Radiator: PHANTEKS (hero) PH-TC12LS

System: Windows 7 64bit

Software: AIDA64 ExtremeEdition V4.2

Test Mode 1: The original heat dissipation scheme A Tt Riing 12cm is responsible for advanced + another Tt Riing 12cm as chasers PH-TC12LS push-down cooling fan + no back-out fan (Tt Riing 12cm is 3pin interface does not support PWM is always at full load Rotating speed)

Test mode 2: A Tt Riing 12cm fan is responsible for the forward wind + another Tt Riing 12cm as a fan of the wind fan PH-TC12LS downforce + two Sanyo 9S 8025 is responsible for the wind (Tt Riing 12cm is a 3pin interface is not supported The PWM is always at full speed, and MSI B85I motherboard chassis fan PWM only supports 50% of the speed, so Sanyo 9S 8025 minimum speed has been maintained at about 2000PRM, there will be significant noise)

Test mode 3: A gentle typhoon is responsible for the forward wind + another gentle typhoon as a chaser. PH-TC12LS is a cooling fan + no rear fan

Test mode 4: A gentle typhoon is responsible for the forward wind + another gentle typhoon as the chasers. PH-TC12LS is the cooling fan + two Sanyo 9S 8025 is responsible for the wind (MSI B85I motherboard system fan PWM only supports 50% speed , so Sanyo 9S 8025 minimum speed has been maintained at around 2000PRM, there will be significant noise)

Thermal test method: In order to reflect the advantages of the air duct and the performance of each fan and noise control level, I will use the above four test modes to use AIDA64 single point FPU for 20 baking machine test temperature

Noise test method: Use the decibel meter to test the noise of standby and full load in four modes at a distance of 40cm from the host (simulating the distance between the host and the host).

Test mode 1 full load temperature and noise:

CPU: 92°C

Core 1:89°C

Core 2: 91°C

Core 3: 93°C

Core 4: 88°C

Min cpu fans:1591RPM

Max cpu fans:1624PRM

Min system fans: 1593RPM

Max system fans: 1628RPM

Standby noise: 45.0dBA

Full load noise: 45.0dBA

PS: Because the heat dissipation scheme of Mode 1 is basically a no-duct state, the CPU temperature rises to 92°C in 6 minutes when the temperature is controlled, and Tt Riing 12cm is a 3pin interface that does not support PWM at a full load speed of around 1600 RPM. Standby and full load noise levels have been around 45dBA

Test mode 2 full load temperature and noise:

CPU: 81°C

Core 1:81°C

Core 2:81°C

Core 3: 83°C

Core 4:78°C

Min cpu fans: 1564RPM

Max cpu fans:1591PRM

Min system fans:2042RPM

Max system fans: 2992RPM

Standby noise: 47.3dBA

Full load noise: 51.0dBA

PS: After adding two 8cm fans on the basis of the original heat dissipation scheme in mode 2, the CPU full load temperature control is about 10°C lower than that of the mode 1, so you can see the importance of a good air duct cooling the entire unit. And after noise control adds two 8cm fans, no matter if it is standby or full load noise, it is even more obvious, and because the MSI B85i motherboard does not support lower PWM (minimum 50%), the minimum speed is always maintained at about 2000 rpm.

Test mode 3 full load temperature and noise:

CPU: 88°C

Core 1:86°C

Core 2:86°C

Core 3: 89°C

Core 4: 84°C

Min cpu fans:632RPM

Max cpu fans:1753PRM

Min system fans:632RPM

Max system fans: 1753RPM

Standby noise: 37.7dBA

Full load noise: 44.9dBA

PS: Test mode 3 is only for comparison with mode 1, that is, Tt riing and trowel gentle typhoon contrast, from the above data of the CPU full load test can be seen, the same typhoon gentle typhoon temperature without T wind typhoon than Tt riing It is about 4°C lower, and the most violent is the noise control. From the above data, we can see that the gentle typhoon standby speed is only 37.7dBA at 632RPM, the performance is really amazing, and the noise is only 44.9 at full load speed at 1753RPM. dBA, also just 1600RPM Tt riing quite

Test mode 4 full load temperature and noise:

CPU: 76°C

Core 1:75°C

Core 2:75°C

Core 3:78°C

Core 4: 72°C

Min cpu fans:620RPM

Max cpu fans:1719PRM

Min system fans: 2045RPM

Max system fans: 1915RPM

Standby noise: 40.2dBA

Full load noise: 51.3dBA

PS: Compared with mode 2 in mode 4, mode 4 has a CPU full load temperature of about 5°C lower than mode 2 (81°C) in the same duct as mode 2, and noise control at full load of noise control mode 4 and mode 2 Quite aside, mainly depends on the noise performance under standby, because it is closer to the situation of daily use, mode 4 standby noise is in the acceptable range of 40.2dBA, and in the middle of the night it does feel that there is obvious noise, and the source of noise is still the main ones. Put 8cm fan speed around 2000, only Weishi MSI B85i supports only 50% PWM

Here's a simple test of HHD and SSD:

Hitachi HTS721010A9E630 run points test:

HHD I usually go to the first test will have bad sectors

Hitachi HTS721010A9E630 reading speed is indeed about 13% slower than the original 3.5 inches Western Digital HHD, relatively speaking, 3.5 inches larger disk outer diameter brings faster reading speed, so generally the same speed and capacity under the 3.5 performance It must be higher than 2.5.
