At 11:30 AM, June 14, Seattle time, we conducted a live video interview with Rick Bergman, senior vice president and product group general manager of AMD.
In the interview, Rick Bergman publicly demonstrated the laptop based on the next-generation APU Trinity. Compared to Computex two weeks ago, this is a major blow! At Computex at the time, Rick only showed Trinity APU chips, and at the AMD Fusion Developer Summit two weeks later it showed the real machine based on this next-generation APU!
AMD has just launched the Llano APU product (A series) for high-end notebook computers, and it immediately displayed the next generation of Llano's Trinity real machine. Rick said that the Trinity APU chips have just been manufactured in the first batch of weeks ago and are absolutely fresh.
Rick revealed that Trinity APU has more powerful CPU computing power and GPU computing power, especially the CPU part uses a powerful bulldozer (Bulldozer) architecture. Although specific performance levels are not yet easily disclosed, Rick said that Trinity's parallel computing power is 50% higher than that of Llano, so that everyone can have a rough impression of the performance of the bulldozer itself.
It was also confirmed that the GPU graphics core used in the Trinity APU will use a VLIW4 4D-like stream processor architecture similar to the Radeon HD 6900 series.
The Trinity APU and the corresponding new platform will be launched in 2012.
