The preliminary competition between Apple and Shenzhen Proview on the "iPad" trademark has made initial progress. Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court recently rejected Apple's case in the first instance, and Proview asked Apple to pay 10 billion yuan in compensation for the "iPad" trademark. Otherwise, it will join forces. The bank seized its infringing products.

It is said that Proview International has branches in Taipei and Shenzhen. In 2009, Apple reached an agreement with Proview International. Proview Taipei transferred the iPad global trademark to Apple at a price of 35,000 pounds. However, Shenzhen Proview claimed that the “iPad” trademark rights owned by the Taipei company include Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, and does not include the mainland. It is Shenzhen Proview that owns the "iPad" trademark in this area. It registered the "iPad" trademark as early as 2001, which means that "iPad" is a Chinese brand.

Some media revealed that Shenzhen Weiguan is currently facing operating losses, which is a big reason for it to stare at Apple. It is clear that this "iPad" lawsuit can bring a huge claim fee. The eight major banks including Bank of China, Minsheng Bank and Development Bank will also support Proview in actively seeking claims.

The judgment of the first instance is favorable to Shenzhen Proview, but it is only in the final judgment of Chinese law that it is decisive. Therefore, the industry expects Apple to pursue a second appeal. If it eventually fails, there are only two ways out: one is to change the name of the iPad; the Other is to use money to buy the “iPad” trademark from Proview.
