In the first quarter of 2011, total integrated circuit production in China reached 19.1 billion, a significant increase of 33.1% year-on-year. The industry achieved sales revenue of 34.842 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 17%. From the perspective of the first quarter, despite the slowdown in the growth of the global semiconductor market, the rapid growth of the domestic demand market and the completion and commissioning of several large projects led to the rapid growth of the domestic integrated circuit industry.
In terms of import and export, according to customs statistics, the import volume of ICs in January-March 2011 was US$38.59 billion, an increase of 16% year-on-year; the export value was US$7.35 billion, an increase of 12.5% year-on-year.
In terms of the three industry sectors, overall sales of the IC design industry continued to maintain a relatively high growth rate in the quarter as a result of rapid sales growth of key IC design companies such as Hass Semiconductor and Spreadtrum Communications. IC design industry sales reached 7.467 billion yuan, a substantial increase of 31.6% year-on-year; chip manufacturing driven by the gradual release of new production capacity from Intel Dalian and TSMC Shanghai, the year-on-year growth of sales revenue reached 19.5%. It reached 11.305 billion yuan; the packaging and testing industry, led by the launch of new projects such as Haitai Semiconductor, achieved a year-on-year increase in sales revenue of 9.75%, with a scale of 16.07 billion yuan.
