Rohde & Schwarz has released the DVB-C2 option on the R&S SFU signal generator. With this option, DVB-C2 receiver and chip manufacturers can perform standard conformance testing of products. This option is also available to certification bodies and cable network operators. R&S SFU already supports almost all digital, analog TV and broadcast standards. It now also supports all second-generation broadcast TV standards. This allows the user to perform all performance and compliance tests on their receivers with a single signal generator. The DVB-C2 standard was introduced about a year ago. At the end of last year, Berlin's DVB-C2 trial network was put into use. The first home receiver is expected to be launched as early as the summer of 2011. In order to perform performance and conformance testing on DVB-C2 receivers, manufacturers need a source that can generate standard signals. Rohde & Schwarz has developed the DVB-C2 software option for its R&S SFU signal source. With this option, TV, set-top box, tuner and receiver chip manufacturers can perform all DVB-C2 performance and compliance tests on their products. R&S SFU supports most of the test standards, including DTG's D-Book test specification and the Scandinavian standards organization's NorDig specification. R&S SFU is suitable for quality certification in R&D and production. It provides a standard reference source for testing for cable network operators, certification bodies, and EMC laboratories. Since R&S SFU supports almost all broadcast TV standards, users can test their receiving devices for different transmission standards with just one device. Even multi-standard receivers such as DVB-C/C2, DVB-T/T2 or DVB-S/S2 can be tested. With an option key, users can quickly enable new standards in software options. The DVB-C2 option on the R&S SFU is currently available for ordering and can be installed on all R&S SFUs previously used.
