The power protection work of the Expo includes a series of tasks such as the protection of the emergency power supply in the park, the emergency repair of the park's power facilities, the power supply of the park's major events, and the power protection of important venues such as the China Pavilion. It has a wide range, long time, high requirements, and is arduous and complicated. The unprecedented level is a world-class problem.

Especially during the Shanghai World Expo, which coincided with the peak of the Shanghai Power Grid, the Shanghai Electric Power Company underwent dual pressures under the cooperation of all parties. In the World Expo, the strong smart grid built by green technology has played a key role. On July 8th this year, Xiangjiaba-Shanghai ±800kv UHVDC transmission demonstration project was completed and put into operation, representing the highest level of HVDC transmission technology in the world today. The Jinsha River is rich in hydropower safety, economy, and long-distance transportation to Shanghai to meet the electricity needs of China's mega-cities and the Expo. At the same time, China's first national offshore wind demonstration project, the Shanghai Donghai Bridge 100 MW offshore wind farm, all 34 units were formally connected to the grid for power generation and began to provide clean energy for the Expo. At present, Shanghai has become the world's largest city using "green power."

In addition to a strong green power source, smart grid technology also fully protects Expo's power supply security. The Shanghai Electric Power Company's fault repair management system was first applied around the Expo site. Through this smart technology, the users in the park have achieved N-n goals. That is, any one of the user's power supply lines fails and can be restored to power through other lines within one minute.
