Cree Lighting LED Technology Lights Munich Airport, Germany

Recently, the lighting-level LED technology provided by the market leader of LED lighting solutions (Nasdaq: CREE) lights up the apron and outdoor lighting system at Munich Airport, Germany. Munich Airport is the seventh largest international hub in Europe with an annual passenger throughput of 38 million passengers.

Cree's partner in the project, Ewo, is a manufacturer of high-quality lighting systems dedicated to public lighting. Its F32 floodlights are used in airport high-lighting systems to replace the original high-pressure sodium lamps. The F32 floodlights are specifically designed for the existing apron lighting at Munich Airport for seamless integration, with 288 Cree-grade XLamp ® XT-E LEDs per luminaire.

Munich Airport plans to use LED technology to reduce the operating costs of its more than 13,000 盏 outdoor luminaires. In addition to reducing energy consumption, the airport plans to maintain carbon dioxide emissions at 2005 levels without considering future traffic growth. Munich Airport expects to reduce energy consumption by at least 50% compared to the original high-pressure sodium lamps through the use of new floodlights from Cree LEDs. After completing the first phase of lighting renovation, it can save 122,000 degrees of electricity per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70 tons. After the replacement of the 3,000 盏 apron floodlights and 10,200 盏 outdoor luminaires, Munich Airport is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 5,000 tons per year.

The F32 floodlights use Cree's energy-efficient, cost-effective lighting-grade LED technology to deliver superior quality white light and a significant color rendering index enhancement over existing luminaires for better color rendering and enhanced performance. Vision. Its lighting system delivers long-term design life and combines high performance with industry-leading light efficiency and reliability to dramatically reduce energy and maintenance costs.

The importance of airport lighting for air traffic safety management is self-evident. Günther Sellmeier, planning and project manager for outdoor lighting, engineering and infrastructure at Munich Airport, said: “Protecting the safety of passengers, aircraft, flight attendants, airport staff and other visitors is a vital task at Munich Airport. For this work, we have not only applied high-quality lighting with Cree technology in the airport apron area. All installed floodlights can combine the flexibility of multiple optical lens packages and Ewo lighting management systems. It is suitable for a wide range of different conditions. For example, its optimized lighting system provides a high level of road lighting for the pavement behind the apron."
