I think there may be three reasons: First, I am more concerned with my alma mater; Second, I am engaged in urban rail transit; Third, I am a more aggressive actor. Since I joined the job, I have been engaged in the rail transit industry, have done design, research and development, construction, and now do project management of the owners. Starting from the assistant engineer, he grew up as Director of the Institute, Dean of the Design Institute, and Deputy Director of the Engineering Bureau. Now he is the General Manager of Beijing Railway Company. Participate in the construction of a number of railway lines, the construction of multiple urban rail transportation, and the construction of a number of national rail transportation. Since Beijing’s successful bid for the Olympics, over a period of more than a decade, Beijing has established 15 rail transits of nearly 400 kilometers along with tens of thousands of builders. At the same time, it promoted the localization and autonomy of key equipment and key technologies. At present, it is presiding over the construction of China's first full-autonomous demonstration project for fully automatic operation (driving without driver).

Every time we return to our alma mater, our topic will be inseparable from the development of high-speed rail, subway and alma mater in the field of rail transit, because Southwest Jiaotong University has always been closely linked with Chinese railways and subways.

In the recent decade, it was the golden age of development. China's high-speed rail attracted worldwide attention, and the construction of China's subway or urban rail transit is also in full swing. The initiator of the shallow underground burial project of the China Metro, and the earliest researcher of the Beijing Subway, Shi Zhongheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is our old headmaster. The proponent of the excavation method, Wang Mengshu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is also our old teacher. Recently, a book has just been published, called “60 Years of People’s Affairs in China’s Subway.” Among the people who contributed to the China Subway included in the book are 23 Jiaotong University alumni. I think this is a bit too pessimistic. There are at least two points that a robot can hardly have in a short period of time. One is that people have the ability to assign things to certain meanings and certain values, and the other is that people have the ability to learn and innovate. The thoughts that resulted from this, combined with my 30+ years of work experience, have given me the following three snacks that I share with you today.

First, people must have feelings. Feelings of definite action, direction, and goals will make more patterns.

Take rail transit for example. Regardless of high-speed rail or urban rail transit, which project is a large project is a complex project. Every project involves all aspects, and it is not possible to complete the project smoothly. In the face of difficulties, how should we face? This requires feelings to support the heart.

Traditional culture tells us that building roads and bridges is a good thing. The spirit of the alma mater nourishes us and we must strive for continuous improvement. We want to promote the localization of key technologies and think that we cannot allow foreign countries to always control us. With such feelings, I feel that the business I work for is meaningful to society and the country. You will be happy to work hard in the depths of the mountains and underground in the city without regrets.

The second point is to combine life-long learning and decisive action, continuously improve the ability to act, and continuously capture opportunities for success.

Learning is a lifelong business. A thousand-moving slogan is not as good as a practical one. The importance of learning and acting can be said to be deeply rooted. The time relationship does not start. Here I only recommend the four books that inspired me. When I first graduated, I was a typical engineering man. The two books “Organizational Behavior” and “Project Management” that were introduced just 30 years ago led me to become a manager. In addition, I strongly recommend that his alma mater add the two popular books, "Systematic Beauty" and "A Brief History of the Future," to the list of recommended schools. These books are not difficult to understand, but there are many enlightenments for engineering students.

The third point is that the combination of persistence and adaptation in the course of action ensures that the action will be effective and effective.

Several of the senior teachers in Beijing learned that I have made a speech today and I have suggested that I should say what I can do to ensure that every action can yield results. In this regard, I want to say first that no one can succeed casually. My path to life and career has also encountered bumpy paths.
