LCD monitor viewing angle

LCD monitor viewing angle The viewing angle refers to the angle at which the user can clearly observe all the contents on the screen from different directions. Since the light source provided by the LCD display has a certain directionality when it is refracted and reflected, the phenomenon of color distortion occurs when viewed beyond this range, and the CRT display will not have this problem. The size of the viewing angle determines the size of the user's viewable range and the best viewing angle. If it is too small, the user will deviate slightly from the front of the screen and the picture will be lost. General users can use 120 degree viewing angle as a selection criterion.

Visual Angle Judgment Criteria The viewing angles of LCD monitors currently on the market are all symmetrical, but they may not be symmetrical from top to bottom. Often, the up and down angles are less than the left and right angles. When we say that the viewing angle is 80 degrees left and right, it means that the screen image can still be clearly seen when standing at a position 80 degrees from the normal of the screen (the imaginary line in the middle of the display). The larger the viewing angle, the better the viewing angle, and the more applicable the LCD display.

Since each person's vision is different, we are based on the contrast. The greater the contrast measured at the maximum viewing angle, the better. At present, most products on the market have a viewing angle of more than 120 degrees, and some products have reached more than 170 degrees. It should be noted that, in different measurement methods, the nominal value of the viewing angle is also different, because the display manufacturer usually does not specify the specific measurement method, so in general, the viewing angle is a reference value of the liquid crystal display The viewing angle includes two indicators of the horizontal viewing angle and the vertical viewing angle. The horizontal viewing angle indicates that the vertical normal line of the display (ie, the vertical imaginary line in the middle of the display) prevails, and is perpendicular to the left or right of the normal line. The display image can still be normally seen in a certain angle position. This angle range is the horizontal viewing angle of the liquid crystal display. Similarly, if the horizontal normal line prevails, the upper and lower viewing angles are called vertical viewing angles. In general, the viewing angle is based on the change in contrast. When the viewing angle is increased, the contrast of the display image seen at this position will decrease, and when the angle is increased to a certain degree and the contrast ratio drops to 10:1, this angle is the maximum viewing angle of the liquid crystal display.

In today's liquid crystal displays, many manufacturers' products have been able to achieve a horizontal viewing angle of 170 degrees; vertical viewing angle of 160 degrees. For example, Asus LCD monitors now have a 170/160 viewing angle for all series of products. The user's visual experience during use is not much different from that of CRT monitors.
