Speaker layout and precautions

Speaker arrangement method

Centralized layout: The speakers are arranged centrally on both sides of the stage.
Advantages: convenient and practical, simple connection, less use of wires, accurate positioning of sound direction, natural sound reinforcement.
Disadvantages: It is easy to cause howling and the volume of the microphone is not large.

Decentralized layout: Install several ceiling speakers on the ceiling in a decentralized manner, or install a number of speakers on the wall, behind the seat, etc. Note that the speaker should be sharply pointed and should limit its distribution. The ceiling is low when using an overhead speaker.
Advantages: Improve the ratio of direct sound, uniform sound pressure distribution, and not easy to cause howling.
Disadvantages: poor sense of sound.

Concentration-distributed layout: It is mainly concentrated and distributed in a decentralized manner. Music, cinema, etc. require sound-accurate sound for centralized playback, and language sound reinforcement for distributed playback.
Advantages: the advantages of centralized and decentralized.
Disadvantages: The system is complex and the cost is high.

Linear Array: Linear array speakers are designed for large outdoor performances and have recently been available in a small product for indoor use. It is characterized by sharp directivity. The vertical radiation angle of each speaker is only 10 to 30 degrees and the angle of the speaker can be precisely adjusted. The attenuation per minute is as small as 3 dB. It is suitable for large conference halls with high requirements.

Precautions for arranging speakers

1, direct-type full-range speakers should try to avoid interface reflection.
2. When arranging the speakers, the listening area should directly obtain the direct sound of the sound. In general, speaker hanging is the best way to get direct sound in the room. Adjust the angle of the tilt to avoid affecting the high-pitched sound. The horizontal position of the speaker should be such that its tweeter axis matches the level of the listener's ear.
3. The speaker is placed symmetrically with the center axis of the room. The requirement of the indoor acoustic environment is that the symmetry of the building must be consistent with the acoustic symmetry of the room, and the speakers should be placed in a symmetrical position on the central axis of the room. Only by achieving the consistency of architectural symmetry and acoustic symmetry can an ideal, harmonious and symmetrical sound field be provided for the interior.
