Melexis Introduces New High Precision Pressure Sensors for Demanding Automotive Applications

Melexis introduces a new high-precision pressure sensor, the MLX90818, which is especially suitable for demanding media applications in the automotive sector.


The new MLX90818 is a factory-calibrated absolute pressure sensor with a range from 1.0 to 5.5 bar, ideal for use in common naturally aspirated, direct fuel and turbocharged engines. This highly integrated sensor provides an NTC signal processing channel for temperature measurement in a small 4mm x 5mm DFN package. The MLX90818 is by far the smallest form factor device, requiring only a few external components, making it easy for OEMs to develop small, rugged intake manifold pressure (MAP) sensors.

As the only component solution available without exposure to corrodible metals, the device offers the best in harsh media compatibility, especially for modern engines in smaller, lighter weight modern engines. Halogen environment. With 18V overvoltage capability, the MLX90818 operates over the -40°C to +150°C temperature range and is suitable for all hood applications.


With a pressure accuracy of ±0.5% to ±0.75% over the life of the device at 150°C, the device is ideally suited for high-precision MAP and EGR sensors, helping to significantly reduce NOx emissions and global warming. CO2 emissions.

The MLX90818's output is fully compliant with the J2716 Unilateral Nibble Transport (SENT) protocol, making it easy and fast to configure settings to suit different customer needs.


For the MLX90818, Melexis offers factory calibration; for small batch applications, customers can also configure the device through application pins using proven software tools directly from Melexis.
