Mobileye and Delphi collaborate to create advanced fully automated driving

Mobileye and Delphi Automotive announced on August 23, 2016 that the two companies will jointly develop a SAE (American Automotive Engineering Association) 4/5-class autonomous full-service solution. The two companies will collaborate to develop fully automated driving solutions for end-to-end, mass production, high performance and safe operation, which can be quickly integrated into a variety of automotive platforms from different customers around the world. The CSLP platform jointly developed by the two parties will be displayed at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA, through a mixed section of cities and highways, and is planned to have a large production capacity in 2019.

Mobileye is a global technology leader focused on computer vision systems, mapping, local positioning and machine learning in the automotive sector. Delphi is a global leader in autonomous driving software, sensing systems and system integration. The cooperation between the two parties will develop the first one-stop 4/5 automatic driving solution on the market.

Founded in 1999, Mobileye is based in Israel and its main product is the Monocular Vision ADAS System. At present, Mobileye has cooperated with several TIer 1 products, which are available on many brands including Tesla, BMW, GM and Volvo. However, on July 26, 2016, Tesla Autopilot autopilot technology partner Mobileye officially announced that Tesla parted ways.

It is reported that Mobileye and Delphi will cooperate on the basis of their respective core technologies. Mobileye will provide EyeQ4/5 SoC technology with sensing signal processing, fusion and world view generation, and Road Experience Management (REMTM) for real-time mapping and vehicle location. Delphi will provide autopilot software algorithms for road and trajectory planning functions under its acquisition of OttomaTIka, as well as a multi-domain controller (MDC) that integrates the entire camera, radar and lidar system. In addition, the two companies will jointly develop next-generation sensor fusion technology and develop a next-generation simulation of human "driving behavior specifications", integrating OttomaTIka's driving behavior modeling system and Mobileye's deep reinforcement learning system, so that autonomous vehicles can Communicate with other human drivers and pedestrians in a complex urban driving environment.

Delphi President and CEO Kevin Clark said: "This collaboration will accelerate the pace at which we bring our customers a higher level, more cost-effective autopilot solution. Combining the technical advantages of both parties will enable We are developing new and innovative solutions and capabilities faster, which is an advantage that no one can develop alone. This is a win-win strategy for both of us and our customers."
